YouTube: More than Viral Videos

Ah, YouTube. I'm the first to admit, I can spend an embarassing amount of time clicking around from video to video. It starts off simply enough. Someone sends you a video of a dog pulling a kiddie pool into his house:

Before you know it, you're hosed. You're clicking around from video to video, emailing them to your friends and family and wasting a perfect good Saturday morning.

YouTube started off as a way for people to share their daughter's dance recital with Aunt Mary in Tuscaloosa, but like most social media platforms, it's evolved into something much more.

It's a marketing tool. It's a teaching tool. It's a way to show off what your business can do and how they can do it.

I've seen hairdressers with their own YouTube channels showing "how-to" videos for the perfect up-do. I've seen college students in their dorm room giving a tutorial on the Quadratic Formula.

Real Estate agents can do video tours of their properties. Public speakers can direct possible clients to their YouTube channel to see video packages of their speaking style. Churches can upload videos of a recent Sunday morning worship song, a video montage of the kids at youth camp, or a weekly message from their pastor.

YouTube is a VERY useful tool to advance your message. It's far more than kitties that can't jump!
