Is a temporary high worth all of the consequences of the big crash that follows? We are not talking about energy drinks or illegal drugs, but bad (black hat) Search Engine Optimization techniques. To answer that question, all you have to do is to ask one of America's favorite retailers. As reported in the New York Times, J.C Penny was penalized by Google for buying links on spammy websites. The retailer was riding high in the #1 spot on Google's search engine result pages for several important key words. Once the Google anti-spam team discovered that J.C. Penny was not following quality SEO practices, the company dropped from # 1 to # 71 on Google. The big drop was also followed by huge drop in sales for J.C. Penny. The long-term consequences of getting caught in black hat SEO far outweigh any temporary benefit.
At Immerseme.com, we only follow white hat SEO best practices. We know, understand and follow Google's guidelines very closely. Our success as a company is based on your long-term success.
