Google Places Replaced By Google+

Not yet, but read on...

Over the past two weeks we began to notice that Google was experimenting with Google Places placement on Google's search result pages.  We discussed this internally, but could not confirm our hypothesis that Google+ location pages would some day replace Google Places.  (After all, Google seems to be getting rid of services that are not a good fit with Google+ while integrating just about all of their other web properties with Google+).

Today, Mike Blumenthal discovered that Google is starting to render search result pages with Google+ local pages integrated into Google Places universal search. See an example below for the search query "transmission servicing lexington ky".

What does this mean for you?  Simply, that if you have a physical address for your business, you should consider adding Google+ to your digital marketing strategy.  See my previous post for a list of Google+ best practices for businesses.  It is complicated, but we've already been down that road and back.  Talk to Immersme and let us help you get ahead of your competition.
